Misbah's Arabian Oudh Premium Sticks

Misbah do lovely packaging. This has quality imagery on both sides of the packet, and the incense burner on the other side reminds me of one of my burners.

Available from various sellers in India, including from Misbah themselves, for around £2 for 50g, though without international shipping.  An eBay seller will provide free international shipping, though the 50g packet costs $15.  Bonanza also offer free international shipping, with the 50g packet costing £12.  My packet came from aavyaa for around £4, postage included.

The sticks are 9 inches with 7 inches of incense. Fairly thick incense paste which is now hard and brittle, hand rolled onto generous plain bamboo splints. A modicum of wood powder has been dusted over the paste. The stick has been dipped in a fragrant oil, quite masculine, musky, moderately volatile, perfumed, pleasant, engaging, though with a sense of a low cost man's cologne or perfume. Likeable, but fairly limited and not transcending.

When lit it burns greedily and with a fair amount of black smoke until blown out. Then it settles into producing attractive blue grey smoke. I like the smoke swirls. The burn lasts around 70-75 minutes. The scent on the burn is more gentle and attractive than I expected from the appearance of the stick and the smoke. The scent is fairly close to that on the stick, though warmer, softer, more enveloping, and not volatile.   The scent works around the area of musk and agarwood, and it is a really nice scent, but it is fairly limited - it would be good to have more contrasts or something of a journey - a few high notes would really lift this for me. So, it's not engaging, not interesting, fairly limited and narrow, but works fine as a general incense. I like it. I find the company's Bakhoor to be more engaging, albeit it is somewhat spoiled by possible overuse of DEP; however, this is an OK incense, if not exactly a good example of oudh.
