Siro Yellow Sandalwood

Second review - scroll down for earlier

Sandalwood soap fragrance on the stick, which is mostly what I experience on the burn. It's a pleasant scent - woody, musky, quite attractively balanced between sweet and dry, with a general sense of moist, autumnal, patchouli accented wood. This is a perfumed incense so the sandalwood presents as a perfume rather than as an incense, and sometimes that is what is wanted.  Rounded, professional, commercial, attractive. Nothing special, but if what you're after is a decent, clean, sandalwood accented room freshener with a good balance, and few natural terpenes to mess with you, then this works fine.

First review

A hex pack of machine-made everyday room-freshener perfumed incense by Siro Fragrances (a brand name of Rohaan Fragrances) of Bangalore. This is a synthetic sandalwood, which is fine, as most sandalwood Indian incense is synthetic because it is cheap and effective. Sandalwood is one of the better synthetic scents - the scent is easy to recreate, and the result can be stronger, richer, deeper and more instantly appealing than natural sandalwood. Go figure. I always prefer natural - I wear cotton rather than nylon shirts, and I prefer to cook from scratch rather than a processed meal. But for ease and convenience, if not for the complexity, satisfaction and reward of natural, then synthetic can be acceptable, even appealing.  And this is an acceptable and appealing synthetic sandalwood which I am happy to burn around the house as an everyday room freshener.

Available at 99 Euros for 20 sticks from the excellent German online incense store Ephra World
