Stamford Lavender

I've just been chatting with Irene of Rauchfahne on my review of Goloka's Lavender. She asked me if I liked lavender. I think that on the whole I do, though it's more the natural lavender I like rather than lavender perfumes or incense. Lavender perfumes are generally made from nature, as it's cheap and robust, but when processed or distilled into oil it does lose some character. However, a lavender incense is a quick and easy way of getting some lavender character into a room. Which underlines that most mono-scent incenses which are mimicking natural plants and resins, are just handy substitutes for the real thing. There's the attraction (for me at least) of the burning of the incense, but on the whole mono-scents are generally not the highlight of the incense industry. I'm not sure how much genuine lavender oil is in this incense, but it does have a lavender scent on the stick, and lavender essential oil is cheap enough, so it could well be genuine.

There is a lavender scent warmth on the burn. Quite clean and attractive. Moderately sweet with an underlying musky warmth, and a herbal sense of floral lavender. This feels like walking around Provence on a warm evening in late summer. I like it. It's not awesome, but it is very likeable.
