Another sample from Gokula from way back in the mists of time. This is a Radha Madhav incense, which is no longer sold by Gokula, but is available on Amazon UK and eBay in USA in 200gm packets. I've not been struck by any of the Radha Madhav incense I've tried so far. I generally find them decent, but lacking in excitement. Good, solid masala incense. Not too heady, OK for cleansing a room and leaving a pleasant aroma.
And this Sandalwood falls in line with the other sticks of theirs that I have tried. It's a moist and crumbly masala paste with a decent fragrant oil awareness on the stick, distinctly creamy, woody sandalwood. When lit is burns low and slow at burns, then flares up producing black smoke. When the flame is blown out it produces an attractive grey swirling column. The scent on the burn is decent sandalwood oil, though a little thin for my taste. It is possible that Radha have not used any synthetic sandalwood oils, which is applaudable, though that has left this scent underperforming somewhat. I suspect some DEP has been used to stretch the sandalwood oil in order to keep costs down, though it may have been more appropriate to use a synthetic instead. Anyway, while this is an OK incense, I can't really get excited about it.
