Calmveda Habana Cinnamon

Curious name - I'm not sure of the relationship between Cuba and cinnamon. The scent on the stick is quite smoky, old leather, furniture polish, faint old cigarette smoke, honey, vintage red wine, dust - it's like an old fashioned study - wood, leather, ash tray, dusty books. I like it.

The scent on the burn, like the other Calmveda sticks, is mild, and a little smoky from the powdered flowers, but is quite interesting. It echoes some of the impressions from the scent on the stick. There's a retro feel - the Habana name puts me in mind of some old gentleman's club in Havana. Cigars and sweat and wood, and a little whiff of sex and cheap perfume from Cuban good time girls hanging around the door. I don't think, unlike the other Calmveda sticks, that this is a typical everyday room freshener, nor necessarily a commercial scent. This is a little more interesting than that. This tells it's own story, and it is an interesting and somewhat unique story.  Cool. I really like this. A little more fascinating than the average!

  1. A nice one! I'm very positively surprised by this scent, after having such a bad experience with Phool incenses.

    1. Dhruv Gupta of Calmveda has just sent me a pack of Oudh Agarwood sticks. They are fucking awesome! Wow! I'll be posting a review either today or tomorrow. I suspect it'll become my new number one.

    2. Awesome! I've seen these when I was quickly checking out their Insta and links there. They did look quite interesting.

    3. Sadly the packet came after I'd posted your samples, otherwise I'd have popped a couple of sticks in for you.

    4. Ah well. There's always a package on the way one could have waited for.
You've sent more than enough, my friend. :)
