Not sure when I got these, or where from. They are listed on Amazon, but are showing "Currently Unavailable". There are four fragrances, colour coded. All are some form of paste handrolled onto quite thick sticks which are then dipped in perfume and dye so stick and paste are the same colour. When lit the smoke is also the same colour. And the dye comes off onto your hands as well!
The name Ayurveda (Ayur = life, Veda = knowledge) is an ancient Indian health and medicine system which emphasis the mind and body's own ability to heal oneself, and to keep oneself healthy.
Passiflora is passion flower, and this does have a floral scent. It's sweet, slightly jammy, with pleasant sharp citric notes. It's a fairly typical low cost, perfume dipped incense.
Camphor is a scent that comes naturally from the wood of certain laurel trees, or from rosemary leaves. It is used in moth balls, and in vedic medicine, which is no doubt why it's in this vedic pack. This camphor aroma is chemically made, with the sharp, volatile clinic tang of a synthetic scent. It has a pleasant enough clean medicinal note, but has a very low impact on burning. Not offensive, but fairly pointless really.
Nag champa is a popular fragrance name for incense. It is a scent derived from magnolia trees, though in this case it has been created synthetically. The scent here is medicinal, neutral, course burning wood or organic material, faint. It is the least attractive of those I've tried so far.
Basil is an attractive and unusual incense fragrance - this is only the second time I can recall having a basil incense; the other time was very recently: Goloka's Basil. This stick doesn't quite have the quality of Golaka's, and it doesn't have the Mediterranean fresh herby aroma. It's, like the others, quite basic with astringent and chemical notes, though there's some burning grass in there as well......
OK, not a great packet of incense. Cheap and basic. There may be a reason why this is not currently available on Amazon, and I doubt if it's because the incense is so popular it has sold out. I think it's because Aargee are not bothering to restock.....
