Aravinda Parimala Works of Mysore were founded as a small local company in 1963 with their most famous product Sugandha Shringar. The company has developed its exports and now has several export awards and a range of scents, most of which appear to be perfumed, though some appear to be masala. It has a Facebook page.
Sugandha Shringar is claimed by the company to have been innovative in that it was not a single scent incense, but was a blend. It is a perfumed charcoal incense which combines sandalwood with a floral scent. It was one of the incenses I reviewed in 2013, the first year of Incense In The Wind. I had not reviewed anything else by the company until last month (Feb 2023), when I burned some of their hexagonal packs of single scent perfumed-charcoal joss sticks. The sticks are professionally made, but the scents are fairly ordinary. Pleasant, but not delightful. I'd be curious to burn some of their masala incense, and have ordered one, plus a fresh pack of Sugandha Shringar. But I am not interested in exploring the rest of the company's perfumed incense.
