The perfumed-charcoal sticks of Malaysia's Sunrayn incense house are bright, bold, heady, and some might say a little crude. The scents are original blends, which I like, but they are not sophisticated. They are pleasant, but there is little structure here - no balance, no story, no development. The sticks simply present their fragrance - which is sometimes more of a clash than a blend. The scents blur together to present a muddled composite whole. But I like them. They are bright, summery, and fun; full of florals. Particularly this Alayam. I pick up a mesh of strawberry jam, rose, jasmine, mint tea, with a warm base of soft sandalwood. I like it. I don't find the scent satisfying or interesting, but it is pleasing with its bright, joyful, floral profile. A delightful room freshener.
