HEM Baby Powder

Second review - scroll down for earlier

A five year old packet of HEM perfumed incense which for some reason I'd not put in any of our everyday use bowls. Crudely hand-rolled with charcoal paste, which has dried hard, with charcoal powder coming off on the fingers. The scent on the stick, however, is lovely. Fresh, clean, and attractive. Mild, soft volatility, which carries the scent, but doesn't sting or offend. I like the smell of baby powder (or talcum powder), so this appeals to me. It's not a profound scent, but it is fun, bright, modern, and pleasing.  It burns well, diffusing in a warm and gentle manner as befits the scent. It informs a medium size room, and wanders beyond, though doesn't get far. I enjoy the scent. It's a positive, affirming, gentle, and engaging fragrance.

First review

A new corner shop has opened near us (it's in a closed pub), and they stock incense, so I got this in order to encourage them to keep stocking incense. HEM are not my favourite incense company, but to be fair they do make decent enough everyday incense, and are not expensive. And if the scent is right, then it can work. I've had a baby powder incense before, a foil wrapped incense sold by Mystic Incense.

It does smell like Johnson's Baby Powder, which has very delicate floral notes, like jasmine and soft rose, and vanilla. And it also smells like Shalimar, which has also been used as an incense scent.

This is a light, delicate and fun scent, which I have enjoyed burning.
