This Church Mix appears to be a variation on the popular Three Kings resin blend, a version of which I just burned as NKlaus Drei Konige - that is a blend of frankincense, myrrh and a third resin, usually benzoin, to represent the gifts that the three kings or wise men gave when Jesus was born. Some of the resin has been dyed a gold colour to represent the gold.
There is an attractive and reassuring warmth in the scent, quite woody, with fresh wild herbs, lavender, and a balsamic mineral warmth I associate with benzoin, though that appears unique to me, and others generally get vanilla from that resin. I don't find this a particularly churchy scent, I find it more in line with the chypre scent accord - there's soft warm lemon top notes followed by herby and lavender middle notes, supported by mild amber and warm wood. There's a wonderful sprucy, warm, outdoors Mediterranean feel to this - like walking in Cypress with the melange of sea water on the rocks and sand, pine trees, orange groves, and heat reflecting off the road and cars. A solidly attractive, rounded, and complex scent.
