Ragina is a perfumed-charcoal incense from Thurga's in Malaysia. As with the people and culture in Malaysia, the stick is a blend of Indian and South Asian incense traditions. At 10 1/2 inches it is longer than the average Indian stick, though a common length for South Asian. The brightly coloured stick is also something of a feature of Asian incense sticks. The packaging and iconography and the scents, though, are more inclined toward India.
The scent on the stick is slightly volatile, rather synthetic, and more like washing powder or shoe conditioner than natural incense. Somewhat off-putting. The scent is vaguely fruity and floral, inclining toward cherries and strawberries and rose and geraniums. The scent on the burn is somewhat modest and unclear - in complete contrast to the Malligai I've just reviewed. It does settle eventually into a noticeable scent, albeit it a little watery. The residual scent is rose like. It doesn't last long.
Mostly harmless. And mostly pointless. Available for 50p a pack from VallisUK.
