HEM Sandal Incense Cones

On the whole I'm OK with HEM - I'm not a fan, but I find they do make acceptable everyday room-freshener incense. As of this date I have reviewed 75 HEM products, and my average score is 27, which signifies an average everyday incense. And I like sandalwood. It's one of a handful of mono-scents that really works for me. Well, I like the oily, rich, heady sandalwood scent. I'm not so keen on Asian sandalwood incense which appears to be made from wood where the fragrant oil has been removed, and/or the pale wood away from the heart where the oil is concentrated. More expensive Asian sandalwood incense may turn out to be pleasantly rich and sweet and musky; however, I'm reluctant to pay significant money to find out. But if people want to send me samples - go for it! Anyway, yes, I tend to like sandalwood incense - to date I've reviewed 60 sandalwood incenses, and my average score is 36 which indicates decent incense. I'm quite comfortable with the use of synthetic sandalwood oils, as these are very effective, and an excellent way of generating the essence of real sandalwood oil at a reasonable cost. Far better to use the respected Sandalore or a blend of synthetics and natural, than to use spent natural sandalwood as most Asian incenses do.

The richness and power of these cones at the price they are sold is clear evidence that synthetics have been used. This is a succulent and delicious sandalwood scent. If I get too close there are off-notes - some burning nylon and boiled cabbage; but place the cone at a distance and allow the scent to drift across, and this makes for a decent everyday room freshener. Light it and leave it, and when you come back the room will be refreshed with a sweet and musky sandalwood warmth. Yeah - this works for me.  It's not great, it's not exciting, but it does what it says on the tin.
