Calmveda 1960's Patchouli

This is the third Calmveda incense I'm reviewing from an Om Meditation pack of five different scents for £8.50. Calmveda was started in May 2023 by the 24 year old business graduate Dhruv Gupta, who took the initiative set by Phool of recycling temple flowers as combustible material in place of charcoal.  This is eco-friendly, though the powdered temple flowers do have an odiferous quality that intrudes on the fragrance. However, in my view, Calmveda do this better than Phool.

The sticks are machine-extruded and perfumed; and the scents are run of the mill; however, they are low cost, and make pleasant room fresheners. The scents are decent synthetics. Unlikely to really excite anyone, though they are decent quality, and hover pleasantly enough around the target scent that if anyone is inclined to like the named scent then they may well find the stick quite pleasant. That, at least, has been my experience so far.

The scent on the stick is earthy, slightly medicinal, faintly minty, icy, cedarwood, and softly volatile. There is an awareness of patchouli, but it is not attracting me - and I am a passionate patchouli lover.

The scent on the burn is generic floral, slightly smoky, some cheap whiskey, some cheap sweet musk body spray. It's kinda dirty and seedy rather than sensual. There's a stale rose scent rather than patchouli. I'm a little disappointed.
