Nandita Organic Cinnamon Premium Masala

Cinnamon has an attractive fragrance, so is appropriate as an incense ingredient, and I find many cinnamon incense sticks, as here, to be pleasantly seductive and relaxing.

This one has some distinct clove elements added to the cinnamon, which makes it more interesting, though less attractive, than a straightforward cinnamon. It informs the room softly, creating a relaxed and cleansing atmosphere.  A very pleasant incense.

  1. You had those a while Steve? Nandita changed the name of this line to 'Original' a couple of years ago, I suspect they fell foul of advertising regulations with the term organic. The pack design remained the same, just the wording changed. Btw, I noticed Justaromatherapy now stock the Orkay Namaste range at a reasonable price.

    1. Ooh, I'm not sure where they came from, but I'm fairly certain I bought them recently. I had a small package of Nandita incense, which included some Nandita I've already reviewed such as Black Gold and Wood Spice, which I wanted to revisit, so it's likely I saw a cheap supply online and bought it, but a search on my emails doesn't reveal anything, which is a shame because it's generally useful to identify sources which keep old stock for positive and negative reasons.

    2. That's useful information about Namaste. I'll put a link here to remember:

    3. The situation with "Organic" is a little frustrating. The Organic Soil Association in an attempt to ensure that retailers and producers are not abusing the "organic" label have a scheme whereby any producer who wants to claim their products are organic, has to pay the Soil Association to have the soil tested. Poorer producers in countries like India and Egypt who have been making organic products since man first tilled the soil can't afford the cost of having their soil tested, so can't state that they are organic. Ironically, they also can't afford chemical fertilisers. Not that farmers in Egypt need chemical fertilisers, they have the Nile which has been organically fertilising the Egyptian soil for thousands of years!

    4. I suspect Nandita fell foul of legislation due to additives rather than soil certification Steve. Its worth noting that India now is very different than it was 10 years ago. In 2022 India was the worlds second largest importer of fertiliser, more than the entire US and surpassed only by Brazil. Food for thought.

    5. Steve, maybe you got them from Ephra World Shop? I just checked, they still stock those. However, having a closer look, their packaging reads "organic" but the design is different.

    6. I wondered the same as you, Irene, but they do always send an email listing the items ordered, and I checked their emails, and I didn't buy from Ephra. All I can say is that they were sent in pink plastic bag!
