Knox Marzipan Räucherkerzen (Marzipan incense cones)

Marzipan is an unusual incense ingredient - it's a form of sweet paste made from sugar and powdered almonds used in cakes and confectionary. The predominant scent is usually sweet almonds with a touch of vanilla. It doesn't smell so much of "almonds" as of "marzipan", even though almonds are a feature of the marzipan scent, so it does have a distinctive scent. The scent on the cone, curiously, smells more of powdered almonds than it does of marzipan. It also smells of fenugreek and coriander and school rubbers and plastic rulers and Pot Noodle curry. But it doesn't smell sweet, nor does it bring me to marzipan, despite the name.

It burns off in less than 8 minutes, and produces little more than a smudge of smouldering sawdust and herbs with a hint of Pot Noodle curry. Gee whizz. At around £2.50 a pack, this is expensive trash.
