Temple of Incense Orange Blossom & Lemongrass

I've just been browsing "Orange Blossom & Lemongrass incense" on the internet to see what would come up, and I found another UK based female owned retailer selling Indian incense under their own brand name: The Golden Altar. I'm curious, but at £12 a packet that's too much for casual exploration, and they don't do a sampler. I've never asked for samples - I generally try to gently discourage companies from sending me any because I have such a backlog, but I could be tempted to approach them.

Anyway. There is quite a pungent incense on the stick. Huge volatility. Reminds me of the crudeness of the Pushkar incense I've been burning recently - someone has poured huge amounts of fragrance oils and agarbathi oil (DEP) all over this stick. But this is more attractive than the Pushkar sticks. I like this, despite or perhaps because of that slap-in-the-face pungency. There is orange here, but rose is what hits me first; rose and tobacco, and spirit alcohol, and creamy sandalwood, some woody spice, a melange of florals... It's kind of standard "incense smell", that marriage of woods and florals that produces a standard incense scent. It has a perfumed face powder touch, with a little baby powder. I like it. But I'm not getting much of the orange blossom and lemongrass - except when I work at it, but then suggestion comes in, and I'm not sure if I've smelt it or imagined it. I've just looked up orange blossom - it doesn't smell like oranges, it has "a fresh, baby-like, soapy clean scent", which I suppose is what I'm picking up.

There is a pleasant light floral spray on the burn, quickly supported by warm sandalwood. There's a feel of a light Nag Champa about it. Yes, very likeable. Musky, woody, some sense of patchouli, with playful, semi-heady, sweet florals on top. Works well. Creates an attractive atmosphere. I like this. Quite a lot.
