We are running low of cones for the toilet/bathroom, so I ordered a new batch of the cheap and cheerful Deepika cones. They come in a package of five boxes of Deepika cones plus a Satya box for £7 from Amazon - though this time the Satya (which was a fake in my previous delivery) has been replaced with this Rain Forest box. Ignore any claims on the box to be "masala" or "pure & natural", these cones have been dipped in a solution of synthetic fragrance and agarbathi oil (DEP). The website address on the pack no longer belongs to Deepika, but the Wayback Machine has snapshots of the site from 2018, where they do honestly say that their incense is perfume-dipped.
The scent on the stick is volatile, pine disinfectant, green, medicinal. The scent on the burn is mildly marine and green, though the fragrance solution wasn't good quality, and even though the pack was foil sealed, the perfume has been evaporating, so a fair amount of the core material comes through, so there's a smouldering damp leaves smell which tends to dominate. I have looked around for up to date information on Deepika with no luck. I suspect that Deepika was created in 2018 by someone who had been involved in the incense industry since 1996, and that they went bankrupt, and what is being sold on Amazon is bankrupt stock. But that's just my speculation. If anyone knows more, please let me know.
