Pushkar incense (sold as "Keep Smiling" / "Mystic Soul") Nag Champa Sp

Pushkar is a temple town in the northwest of India. There are three incense outlets in the town - NityamShiva, and Om; though it seems likely that all three outlets get their incense from the same source. Pushkar incenses are sold by Pilgrims Fair Trade as "Pushkar Temple Incense Natural Hand Rolled Masala Incense", and these are referred to in the West as "Pushkar Temple".
Nityam sell their incense in packets with a smiley face and the phrase "Keep Smiling", and these are sold in the UK by Mystic Soul. Inside the Keep Smiling/Mystic Soul envelope is the standard tissue wrapped Pushkar incense, exactly the same as the packs sold by Pilgrims Fair Trade.

I've been quite dismissive of some of the Pushkar incenses that I've had so far. They are generally in the style associated with Sai Flora, which is often referred to as "Flora".  Flora incenses tend to be drenched in fragrance oils and DEP, and are quite cheap. They are often very heady and can be very crude. I incline toward such bold incenses, though if the balance is wrong, or its a scent I don't like, then I can find them somewhat offensive. I like the Nag Champa scent, so I am pre-disposed toward this; and, indeed, I like the scent on the stick. Yes it's clearly perfumed and a little volatile, but there is that sweet balance of floral and sandalwood which has been so successful because it's so delicious.

The scent on the burn is also pleasant - it's more focused on the sandalwood than the floral, and it is a little crude and prickly, but it's quite acceptable. Not heavenly, but an OK generic "incense" fragrance. I'm happy to keep burning this.
