Temple of Incense Pineapple

Pineapple is an unusual incense scent - I can only recall having a pineapple incense twice before. Neither were that successful. This doesn't have a big hit of pineapple. It's there, but I'm not sure I'd have noticed it if I wasn't looking for it. The main fragrance on the stick is a sort of generic "incense" smell (slightly woody and earthy) along with soap and a bit of fruit and a vague perfumed room freshener vibe. It's nice. It's a little cool with a mild volatility, but that's standard with perfumed masala incense these days.

The burn is even more disappointing. It is a general warm wood musky scent with no character, and no pineapple. There's nothing much here to get engaged with, and it's not really an incense to hold the attention. I put it out for a while, then tried again later with my daughter. With paying attention, there are soft scents, and some sweetness drifting off in a mildly citric direction. But it's not an incense for me. My daughter was very dismissive. "It's just smoke", she said.

  1. I have a feeling that scents like this don't perfom well in our winter conditions. But based on how I liked Mango (Bhagwan), I'd guess this wouldn't be a favourite of mine either.

    1. I have followed with interest your comments on your blog regarding the impact temperature can have on scent. And I agree. It's not something I'd thought about until I started reading your blog. And air flow in the house, to move the scent around, has a shimmering effect that is fascinating. I'm also thinking that the quality of the light has an impact on our perception and emotional response to scent. I think that a floral scent would be more appreciated in bright conditions that are like a summer day as the association of flowers with a sunny summer day is so evocative. While darker, woody, tobacco scents would be more appreciated in a low light, like that of an old fashioned study or library. A dark, heavy scent in a bright room just feels wrong.
