The second of the sample pack of "Aromandise incense" I got from Padma Store. Aromandise is a French shop which sells incense and other groovy stuff. The incense is made in Pondicherry - likely by the cottage industry network there - for Naturveda, who offer a white label service to Western shops. The style of the incense is similar to Cottage Industries, though is independent - this Myrrhe is not the same as Cottage Myrrh; however, if people like Cottage incense, then they'll probably like this.
I quite like myrrh, though I generally find it a bit dry, bitter, and plain by itself. For me, it works better as an accompaniment to a sweeter incense, such as frankincense.
There is a mild, though pleasant scent on the stick. Kind of floral, and kind of sweet, which is not what I was expecting. There is some honey, and a gentle, soft, balsamic woody resin as well. Along with that is a distinct awareness of myrrh - dusty, earthy, mineral, chalky. Promising, though not exciting or uplifting.
The scent on the burn is light, smoky, somewhat woody, with a mineral, earthy, dusty myrrh quality. Sort of neutral to dry on the whole, though with some sweetness - a touch of caramel and amber, with hints of floral, that lift this slightly. Though this is not the same as the Cottage Myrrh, which is sweeter, and more rounded, it is in the same ball park. But I prefer the Cottage. Well, I say that, but I've just finished off the last of the stick, and there is a very pleasant resinous scent lingering in several rooms of the house. Gently warm, sweet, cleansing, uplifting, and delicious. So I've up-scored this, and moved it above the Cottage. I probably now need to review the Cottage again....
